31 Weeks

31 weeks! yesterday was 2 months until my due date, it was a but surreal when i looked at the calendar and saw that it was the 27th. I'm starting to slow down, I've been working 6 days a week and my body is finally telling me to slooooow down. so, i'm cutting back on a shift, and gave my notice, only a few weeks left and I'm done. mentally i'm so ready for it, and ready to have more time to spend at home, preparing for everything around here. also, i can't really bend over, so when i drop things at work, it's getting tricky, if it can stay on the ground, it stays on the ground. it only gets picked up if it needs to. haha.

baby's movements are getting a lot more defined. instead of squirming around what felt like all the time, it's sleeping a lot more and when it's awake, it's kicking and punching and sometimes keeping me up at night. i know i'm going to miss feeling the little movements across my stomach, rolls and kicks, it's crazier than i ever imagined, oh gosh, i can't wait to meet this little guy.

speaking of preparing for everything around here... i had a dream the other night that baby was here, and i didn't have any diapers, i had nothing, i had a mini panic attack. i know i still have lots of time, but it really wasn't a good feeling.

i'm so overwhelmed by the little gifts i've been given from friends and readers! it's such a huge blessing. these are a few adorable things from my fav local friends.

Christmas '14

This Christmas was special, it was so relaxing, quiet, and restful. We had a nice day on Christmas eve at the Klenners with Dan's parents, sister and her husband. We had a nice breakfast, sat by the fire, and then cooked up a big feast! It was so amazing to have a few days off! After Dan's crazy few weeks of gigs and mixing in his studio it was so great to just slow down, watch movies and hang out with our families. We slept over at my parents house Christmas eve and woke up to stockings! So good, these are a highlight for Dan and he talks about them all year because he didn't grow up with them! I love that we all still pile on my mom and dad's bed and open our stockings one by one, talking about each item. It's so fun. I think this may be me and Dan's last year, because we always talked about us getting them until we have kids, so next Christmas we will have a 7 month old (whaaaa?) who knows, maybe we can talk our parents into doing a combined one ;)

Oh, one thing that's fun, Christmas day I was 18 weeks! I had just started feeling the baby kick for real so much that week, even could feel it with my hand a few times which was so surreal. We were up early on Christmas morning, laying in bed and just enjoying being up and having no where to be! Baby started kicking so much, and Dan finally felt it with his hand, and put his face on my belly and got a nice little kick in the face. What a perfect way to start off Christmas day. It was magical.

Christmas morning sunrise, it was such a beautiful day!

Love my family, so glad we snagged this photo, we never get any together!

Quiet Day

I realized today that since this blog is currently private, I can pretty much share whatever I want on it without worrying about spilling the beans, which is really fun to me right now. I've been dying to tell the world our little secret, this little baby growing bigger inside me each day. It feels so real, I didn't think it would feel so real.
I have been sick and extremely tired, so on days like today when I really don't have a lot of work that needs to get done, I take the doctors advice and rest. It feels so good. I watched way, way too many episodes of Parenthood, baked some banana muffins that were delictable, (and then ate too many of them), lit some candles and camped out on the couch all day. It was rare, and fun, and I love that I just don't feel guilty at all.
I'm so excited to finally make the big announcement in a couple of days, whenever Dan and I get a few minutes of daylight together to snap some cheesy photos.
I'm going to go watch one more episode before Dan gets home, It's 7:30 and I could just about crawl into bed, but I should probably wait until at least 9.

Just a relaxing day at home. Thought I would give my apartment a bit of TLC. I didn't get very far. Baked a few cookies and tidied up the living room, that's all the energy I could muster up for the day. We haven't been around home a ton the past month, we stayed at Dans parents all of last week and enjoyed a little "staycation." It was so relaxing and much needed, but now I am excited and feeling inspired to give my home a little bit of love.

I'm feeling completely uninsprired with my bookshelf. I started to reorganize it and realized I think I need a few new pieces to mix it up, so I'll put that task on hold until I can find a few things to jazz it up! It's just been the same for far too long. Here's a little glimpse of my home, and a piece of my day.

Coffee & Sleep

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset
i am tired. i'm trying to stay awake because dan is about an hour away and i haven't seen him for 5 days, and it's been a long 5 days! i've worked the past 3 days at a new cafe i just started at! i've been training all week and worked the opening shift, which means setting my alarm for 5:30, gross. it has been really great though, i love working at a cafe. being a barista is fun, i love making coffee, i love drinking coffee, so all around it's a perfect fit for what i need right now. kalos has been taking more days of my week which i am so excited about. i can't share too much today but by november all the beans will be spilled on that and we won't have to keep any more secrets! needless to say, my body is not used to these early wake up calls and i couldn't be more excited to sleep in tomorrow and to have my husband back tonight. i bought egg nog and breakfast goodies to cook us a morning feast.

Today Feels | Cozy

today feels cozy, this whole week feels cozy. rain-couver feels like it has officially arrived, hopefully we get a few more days of sun in september, but either way i feel like i've had a really amazing summer. i haven't gone anywhere special or had any amazing adventures away from vancouver but i've really enjoyed experiencing "summer in the city." dan has been working a ton from home all summer so we've seen a lot of eachother but not outside of home! i've enjoyed lots of beach time and movies in the park, bike rides and lots of coffees at renzos and every other main street cafe (there are too many good cafe's within walking distance, it's dangerous). we are trying to be as frugal as we can and hold out until december when our good friend scott is coming from perth to stay for an entire month! we are so excited, so much coffee and wine and food will happen. until then the next few months we will buckle down and keep working and saving and have the most fun this winter. i can't wait. and hopefully next summer will include an epic west coast road trip and visit with our good friend mickey.
