2 Weeks with Hazel

2 Weeks with Hazel from Tegan Klenner on Vimeo.

I put together a little video from our first few weeks with Haze. It's amazing watching her grow and change a little bit everyday. We're absolutely smitten.

Hazel Marguerite Klenner

Wow wow wow. Welcome to the world beautiful baby girl. Life in the last 2 weeks has changed drastically and we are having so much fun with this little hazelnut. She's a great sleeper, loves to cuddle and is growing quick. She was born on June 1 at 1:21am and weighed 7 lbs 2 oz. She was over her birth weight just 10 days later! We're obsessed with her and she's loved by so many, we feel so blessed to have our fridge and freezer more full than it's ever been, and our living room full of friends coming to meet our new little bundle. Dan heads back to work on Tuesday, which will be a big adjustment. Having him home the last two weeks has been such a treat. I'm going to miss him bringing me breakfast in bed and a latte every morning. He's so good to us, and loves his baby girl SO much, it's definitely brought out a different side that I haven't seen before, and it's beautiful. I'm excited to hopefully sit down and write out my birth story this week when I have some time. It was an amazing experience and I feel really lucky that Hazel's birth went as well as it did. It took a lot of work and prep, but I'm so glad I put all of that in, it was worth it.

39 Weeks

Here we are, today I'm 39 weeks and 2 days. I've been so bad at posting this last trimester, life has just been so busy. I've had a lot more time than when I was working at Matchstick to enjoy a day off here and there, but that usually consists of running around doing errands and cleaning our apartment. I've been busy queueing up posts for June on T&T so Lindsay isn't completely left to carry it on her own! It's been a lot of fun though, I'm cherishing these last days/weeks on my own, going on a lot of walks, and eating lots of ice cream. Summer has suddenly hit this last week, I'm trying to soak up lots of time in the park, it's amazing.

This is Dan's last week of work and then he has a few weeks off, I'm really looking forward to that. Especially this time of year, the last 2 Summer's Dan has worked his ass off. He really hasn't enjoyed Summer days in the city, so I'm excited to get a taste of that with him this Summer, we're planning on lots of beach days, park days, and neighbourhood walks.

This pregnancy has been a bit of an emotional and crazy time. With my mom going through everything she has been with her cancer, it's been really hard. I always imagined the simplest of events like going shopping together, picking out things, etc. But that just hasn't been possible. At first I was so angry, it just didn't seem fair. I felt like there were so many things I simply deserved. It's made me really learn to appreciate what I have, we really deserve nothing. My mother is the most amazing, strong, gentle, wise, wonderful woman. She has shown me what it is to be a mother. Life is such a gift, I am so blessed to have a mother and father who have instilled the most important things in their children. They've taught me to work hard, but to have fun, don't take life too seriously, but cherish the important things. Family always comes first, appreciate what you have, but also know nothing on earth matters, store up your treasures in heaven. Relationships before things. I admire my parents so much seeing them walk through this journey. I hope in 30 years Dan and my relationship is as strong as theirs. One thing Dan always says to me when I'm upset or start comparing myself to what other people have, is "this is your story," no one but yours. I'm ok with my story. Some days it seems like a happily ever after, and some days it's quite the opposite. But it's mine, no one else's, and I'm so grateful to be able to have one.

36 Weeks

OK! It's been WEEKS since I posted. April has been one hectic month. People keep asking me, [now that I'm on mat leave, or when I was leaving work] what am I going to do with all my free time?! Well, turns out launching an online shop, getting the blog prepped to be able to take time off, and finally having free time to set up our apartment is verrrry time consuming.

It's been amazing though. I am finally catching up on things around home. Finally gave my bathroom a good scrubbing, washed baby clothes, organized where baby things are going, and have been purging even more. It feels so good to get rid of things, trying to minimize and keep our space somewhat clutter free.

I am so excited for this baby to come. I can't believe it's MAY! baby month *hopefully* I'm really hoping for a May baby. Baby's getting squirmy and I think is getting pretty excited to join the Klenner party.

1.4.15

32 Weeks

how far along are you? 32 Weeks (AH) It's insane that i have 8 (ish) weeks left! That seems so small.

sleep: sleep has been getting harder, the heaviness of my belly when i have to get up, or even roll over is noticeably different from last week. baby sure feels bigger, it's sleeping patterns have become a lot more routine, and when it's awake, it is just jumping around, and when that happens in the middle of the night it sure keeps me up!

movement: just crazy, dan was so surprised after not feeling it for not even a week, when i came home from nelson last weekend he could tell the difference. you can feel limbs and more distinct punches and rolls than ever before. grow baby grow.

favourite moment: my work schedule came out today and i think it's the last one i'll be on! that was pretty surreal.

cravings:
i've been craving lots of salads this week, and fruit! been drinking lots of smoothies and of course eating so many strawberries and oranges.

looking forward to: nothing crazy happening this week, lindsay and i had a pretty great brainstorming session today that left me pretty inspired and excited about the next few weeks & months.

changes to the home: nothin' this week!

28.3.15

31 Weeks

31 weeks! yesterday was 2 months until my due date, it was a but surreal when i looked at the calendar and saw that it was the 27th. I'm starting to slow down, I've been working 6 days a week and my body is finally telling me to slooooow down. so, i'm cutting back on a shift, and gave my notice, only a few weeks left and I'm done. mentally i'm so ready for it, and ready to have more time to spend at home, preparing for everything around here. also, i can't really bend over, so when i drop things at work, it's getting tricky, if it can stay on the ground, it stays on the ground. it only gets picked up if it needs to. haha.

baby's movements are getting a lot more defined. instead of squirming around what felt like all the time, it's sleeping a lot more and when it's awake, it's kicking and punching and sometimes keeping me up at night. i know i'm going to miss feeling the little movements across my stomach, rolls and kicks, it's crazier than i ever imagined, oh gosh, i can't wait to meet this little guy.

speaking of preparing for everything around here... i had a dream the other night that baby was here, and i didn't have any diapers, i had nothing, i had a mini panic attack. i know i still have lots of time, but it really wasn't a good feeling.

i'm so overwhelmed by the little gifts i've been given from friends and readers! it's such a huge blessing. these are a few adorable things from my fav local friends.

booties | little mountain
cactus leggings | looloo's
knit vest | blake & riley

30 Weeks

how far along are you? 30 weeks, ah that feels like a big milestone reaching the thirties!

sleep: this is the first week that baby has legit kept me up at night. i notice sometimes in the middle of the night, but almost always around 5am if i get up to go to the bathroom, as soon as i lay down it is just a squirmy little thing. kicking and flipping around, and i find it so hard to go back to sleep! crazy.

movement: dan and i saw the craziest kick a few nights ago, and got a little video of it moving around. the kicks and punches are getting more distinct and obvious, it's really weird, looks like there's a little alien under there. i love it.

favourite moment: a few nights ago, dan was rubbing lotion over my itchy belly, as soon as he stopped, the baby did a huge kick that just lingered for a few seconds and then slowly went down, we just looked at each other in amazement, like "what the heck!" and then it continued to

looking forward to: our bedroom makeover is almost done! Can't wait until our apartment feels "liveable" again.

changes to the home: yesterday, dan spent the afternoon/evening putting together the shelf in our bedroom! i'm so, so happy with how it turned out, so impressed with how he turned my idea into something prettier than i even imagined! now i have to find some pretty baskets and figure out what to put on it, so fun. we also put the crib together last night, oh it's so pretty and cute. that was pretty surreal.

14.3.15

29 Weeks

how far along are you? 29 weeks

sleep: oof it's starting to get uncomfortable! Jjust this week i've really noticed a big difference. the skin of my belly feels tight & itchy, back is getting sore, leg cramps, all the fun stuff.

movement: if how active this baby is, is a sign of it's personality, I think it's going to be a wild thing.

favourite moment: every night before bed, when dan and i just stare at my belly and feel the baby kick, it's always really active around that time, and shows off it's backflips and judo chops.

cravings:
chai latte's and still, tacos.

belly button in or out? wayyyy out

looking forward to: I just started looking into essential oils and am quite excited about it. i just ordered some roller bottles off of amazon and can't wait to put together some magic potions. i spent a while looking at them at whole foods this afternoon and bought one to help with stretch marks (not the cheapest place to find them or i would have stocked up!) do you have any experience or knowledge on using essential oils? i know being pregnant there are a good list to stay away from, but if you have any combos or favourites, i would love to know!

changes to the home: the last few weeks have been a bit too busy to get anything done, but last weekend we (dan) stained the wood for the shelves we're building for our bedroom, so we can hopefully get it built within the next week! we have our crib still sitting in the box waiting to be assembled, i can't wait to see it put together, but we need to free up some space first.

7.3.15

28 Weeks

The Third Trimester! So crazy. I'll skip the regular bump update this week again, just because. This week was a blast, Lindsay and I hit the road monday morning and made our way through Portland and onward to the Oregon Coast. We met lots of amazing people, had great conversations with friends, and covered our bodies in sand. It was so needed.

I have to admit, the thought of road tripping at 6+ months pregnant made me nervous. I was worried about where we would be sleeping, and how my body would feel after so much driving, nervous about something bad happening *while in americaaaaahhh* but I'm so happy that once we were on the road most of that fear left and it was all ok. I mostly slept great, the driving was so broken up, and as long as we stopped to stretch our legs I was all good. It was so fun. So great to have a little get away with my sister before this baby comes.

So, 28 weeks, the bump is ever growing, I picked up our crib at our US mailbox on the way home from the States, can't wait to assemble that thing! Thrifted about 5 baby overalls, bought the cutest little striped sweater onesie, (first official clothing baby purchase since being pregnant!)

I'm excited that we're now in the third trimester, the final stretch of this pregnancy. Baby is healthy and strong and I'm so thankful for that.

27.2.15

27 Weeks

OH my goodness, baby is growing at rapid speed. Kicking like a fighterrr as I type and it is just insane. 3 months to go and I'll be in the third trimester next week! eep!

Also, I'm really excited about these jeans, I found them at Forever 21 for $18, they're jeggings, but not the weird leggings kind, they're basically like a thin jean but with only a tiny bit of stretch, with an elastic waist, perfect preggo jeans!

22.2.15

26 Weeks

how far along are you? 26 weeks

sleep: it's been a rough week and I blame my husband! He's had a terrible cough that's kept us up most nights, poor guy. He got food poisoning last sunday night and was up the entire night moaning and in so much pain, and then he got a cold the next day, so it's been a bit of a tough one. I hate sickness! being sick while pregnant is the worst too, so i've been trying to keep my distance which is no fun, hopefully he kicks it soon!

movement: Oh man, we have such an active baby, starting to feel the kicks higher and lower than before, it's crazy to be able to feel that the baby has grown by the movement. it's not just kicking in one spot any more, i can feel it all over, so, so bazaar. I love it.

favourite moment: about 5 minutes ago when i ordered our crib off of amazon! eep!

cravings:
crazy bread was an instant craving that made me pull into a little caesars. so satisfying. I've been cooking up a storm this week and it feels so good. I've been putting a lot more effort into putting together meals and meal planning, and have found some amazing recipes. I finally dove into my Oh She Glows cookbook, and have a new favourite cashew alfredo recipe. I'm so glad that something (not sure what) inspired me to start experimenting with meals again and get more creative with cooking!

looking forward to: march on T&T is going to be a fun one, I'm really looking forward to the adventures to come!

changes to the home: last sunday was insane. I woke up to dan cooking me breakfast, which was the best treat. Breakfast in bed and downton abbey was the best start to the day. once we had a good long morning vegging out, we started the purge. we tore apart our bedroom, literally nothing didn't move! We filled our car with boxes of stuff to take to the thrift store, such a good feeling. took apart our bed and set up a new one we bought off craigslist last week, reorganized everything. we're only about halfway done our apartment, but it was such a good & productive start!

13.2.15

25 Weeks

how far along are you? 25 weeks

sleep: Not getting enough of it, and I've notice myself feeling nauseous when I'm too sleepy! Not good, been trying to get back to 9 hours and that makes a big difference!

movement: Oh man, so much movement this week, Dan and I were laying in bed and it was like a tidal wave moving across my stomach, it was the craziest I've seen!

favourite moment: Today a customer told me I was the least pregnant looking pregnant woman he's seen, I took that as a nice compliment.

cravings: I was grocery shopping tonight and was strolling past the crackers and saw goldfish crackers and instantly needed them. That craving couldn't wait and they became my snack for the rest of my shopping trip, so satisfying just cracking them open in the middle of the aisle and popping them into my mouth.

belly button in or out? Sticking out a lot most of the time, as you can see in the photo above, no hiding that button!

looking forward to: Buying things, I'm getting a bit ancy that we haven't bought a thing for this baby! It's still early, but hoping in the next few weeks to order the crib and stroller, now that we've made up our mind on them, can't wait.

changes to the home: We made a big Home Depot run that lasted a few hours, crazy how that happens when you're going back and fourth through each section, pricing and measuring out everything we will need! We finally decided on a design for the shelf we're going to build in our bedroom, and are going to get started this week. It gets tricky when you don't have a workshop, backyard, or a garage. It makes staining the wood and building things a lot trickier! It'll take a few trips to our parents houses and borrowing their garage 'til we can get this all done. Planning to spend one of our weekend days doing a big purge in our apartment to make room for our new little roommate!

6.2.15

24 Weeks

how far along are you? 24 weeks

sleep: it's starting to get a bit uncomfortable! i'm glad i trained myself to sleep on my side when i first found out i was pregnant, (always used to sleep on tummy). but it's starting to feel heavy and i'm getting some occasional back pains, oh and leg cramps, major bonus! but if i take a bath before bed, that's a major help, especially with the leg cramps.

movement: so much, baby was kicking so much the other night i actually managed to get a good kick on snapchat, not bad for a 10 second window. it's an active little thing!

favourite moment: on monday we went and looked at strollers and cribs, i have to say, dan is amazing. he's so into all this stuff that i just didn't expect him to be excited about! he wanted to buy the stroller that day and practice pushing it for 4 months. with everything going on with my mom's health these days, it's been hard not having her to go shopping for baby things or go look at cribs like we had planned. having dan so keen has been a huge blessing and is really helping make that a lot easier, he's going to be one amazing dad!

cravings: oranges everyday. my favourite bedtime snack is a nice juicy orange and a piece of extra dark chocolate. heaven.

looking forward to: as of last monday dan has mondays off again! when we first got married we always had mondays off together and it was so good, gave us a chance to do errands together, or just do anything, kind of like a normal saturday for normal working people i guess? haha, i'm excited to have them back, even though i'm still working the early shift at the cafe, it gives him a chance to have a morning to sleep in and we get a day to start getting things prepared for little baby k!
changes to the home: we finally picked up a new bed frame this week and are starting our bedroom makeover, i'm pretty excited this is finally happening, i've been talking about it for years and something is finally happening! we've never put any time or money into our bedroom since we've moved into this apartment over 2 years ago, so i'm excited to finally focus on that space and make it cozy and comfortable for the 3 of us!

29.1.15

23 Weeks

how far along are you? 23 weeks

movement: tonight was very special because my mom and dad bot got to feel the baby kick! i'm so glad i got to share that special moment with them, it was precious. baby's been kicking and flipping like crazy, i think there's a lot of daniel in this little one.

favourite moment: ^^

cravings: nothing crazy this week! still fish tacos, every, single, day.

belly button in or out? it's maintaining a pretty even level with the rest of my belly!

looking forward to: hoping that this weekend dan and i can go start to do a bit of baby shopping, been looking around on amazon and pinterest for the right stroller, crib, etc, but hopefully we can see some of them in person so we can finally decide on what to go with!

changes to the home: nothinggg, hopefully starting some of our "bedroom makeover" this weekend though!

16.1.15

21 Weeks

how far along are you? 21 weeks

sleep: Not a great week, a little sickness creeped in and threw me off and I've been super groggy the last few days and just can't get enough sleep, but I think I've almost kicked it though

movement: Moving a lot, we had an ultrasound yesterday and it was amazing, so crazy to see baby moving around so much, so cool.

favourite moment: We started our prenatal classes this week, and we learned sooo much, it was so great and I'm so happy that we are doing them! Such a fun night meeting a bunch of other couples who are in the same stage of pregnancy that we are. We are doing the program at the South Community Birth Program, and so far we are loving it!

cravings: I had an all day craving for a White Spot legendary burger, so we picked those up for dinner one night, and I've pretty much been craving fish tacos every day.

belly button in or out? Still about halfway there!

looking forward to: This week has been a pretty exciting one as far as work and Treasures & Travels goes. A lot of opportunities and dreams for the upcoming year, I had the very first moment of realizing this is so close to being my dream job, and it practically is. So far, financially, (even though it's only been a few weeks) this year has been so different from the last few, and it's a strange feeling for Dan and I. I guess a lot of hard work really does pay off.

changes to the home: I finally took down all the Christmas stuff and my home feels so much better! Much cozier, cleaner and spacious. i love it!

9.1.15

20 Weeks

ok so i've officially decided to do a weekly bump update (thank you mom and sister for convincing me). my sister showed me a cute blog the other day and they she had a similar little weekly checklist, so i thought it would be fun to do something similar, and keep me from blabbing and actually do a proper update!

how far along are you? 20 weeks

sleep: i have been sleeping really well! other than the last few weeks, drinking water throughout the day makes me a bit nauseous, but then at about 9:00 I am SO parched, i try not to drink too much water before i go to bed, but i just crave it, thus waking me up at least 2 or 3 times in the night to pee, it sucks. i'm gonna try and change that

movement: so much movement these days, especially in the evening which this past week dan and i have had lots of nights off together, so it's been fun watching downton abbey on the couch and both of us getting to feel baby kick and flip around.

favourite moment: today when a friend came into my work and said i looked so great, and that i was glowing, haha so lame, but when i feel like most of my customers are looking at me like "is she pregnant or does she drink too much of that craft beer," it was a nice moment in my day.

cravings: this weeks biggest cravings were french onion dip & ripple chips (caved), tuna sub (didn't do it), and steak (it was already 10pm, haha so that didn't happen).

happy or moody? i feel mostly happy, but i definitely had some pretty bad moody days this week. (sorry dan)

belly button in or out? about halfway there! so weird

looking forward to: i realized today that after picking up a few shifts that my first day off of the year will be january 18, oy! so i'm very much looking forward to that day. plus i get to see my girl jess and meet her twin babies, AH i can't wait. with the help of my friend kir i'm starting to finally do some research on baby things to buy which i'm going to start deciding once i get the million of other work-related things crossed off my list!

changes to the home: nothing yet this week, i still have a sad looking christmas tree and all my decor to take down, but i did buy some chalkboard paint this week and decided i'm painting a wall in my living room, can't wait.

19.12.14

17 Weeks

Baby is growing! I'm just over 17 weeks and feeling so, so much better than I did in the first trimester. The endless nausea is gone and I have a lot more energy, feeling so much more like myself.
I had my monthly checkup today, and everything is looking great. I love hearing the baby's speedy heartbeat and have started to feel it move so much these days too, it's so amazing.

Dan is just about getting through the busiest month of his life, and I'm SO excited to have a few days off over Christmas to spend time much needed time with our families, each other, and do a lot of eating and lazing around. He is so excited for this baby, it makes me so happy. I feel so grateful to have a husband who is so fascinated with every detail. He texted me so late the other night to remind him to tell me that he got the best parenting advice from someone he met while playing a gig. He's going to be such a great dad. I can't wait to start our family and experience life with our little babe. 23 weeks to go!
